Happy holidays, Donna and family!
I want to start by congratulating you on your nomination for the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. It looks like the coming year could be good for you! Let's hope so! As Cathy, here, has told you and as well is on my website, I have recorded "Riding Home From Baltimore" and it was inspired by meeting you. I believe you got your copy from Cathy last year. I hope it did not get banged up in the mail. LOL I have now started a shooting a video for the song as it is being remixed and reworked by Razvan Caraiman of VAM United in Germany for a German and Dutch release early next year. Hopefully, it will take off and become a European smash! You will then have YOUR OWN SONG! I am so excited and I hope you get to see and hear the finished product. Make sure to check www.myspace.com/darrellrussmusic and www.darrellruss.com I hope your holidays are blessed with all that you would wish for you and yours. I also want to wish you a Happy Birthday this coming New Year's Eve! As I mentioned before, it looks like 2008 could be a banner year for you! I sure hope so. I also hope to run into you again someday!
God Bless!

Dear Donna,
Last night at The Night of the Proms (thursday nov. 16) you were the greatest artist God created with your once in a lifetime voice. I took some pictures of you with my cellphone, as you can see i was a little shakin'.
[Editor's note: those are posted on the NOTP
fan reports page] We were there with the 4 of us and me as one of the first hour fan of you took some
twenties to your concert and they are fanclub members to now. Because my partner and me own a (gay and lesbian) dance-café and play lots and lots of Donna Summer music customers are almost as crazy I am. My dj who's 20 years old was also there and never heard of you before she worked for me was crying when you started with MacArthurk Park, it was her wish. For me it was also amazing because we had eye contact and give each other a
hand kiss. Thanks for that. Some people say I'm crazy because I am proud of only that. We really hope that one day you will give a full concert someday in holland, belgium or
germany. Finally I want to wish you and your family a merry christmas, a happy
new year and best of all HAPPY BIRTHDAY on the 31st of december. We keep on playing your music and we can't wait to hear your new cd. We love you to. Venus was out, you're out, I'm here, anything can happen, it was magical mystical night. Thank you for making my life much pleasant.
With kind regard and lots of XXXX

Hi Donna and Bruce,
It was so nice to meet you again (in November at the Sportpalace in Rotterdam). It is always such a lot of fun to meet you again.
I'm realising more and more that I'm so lucky to be a HUGE Donna fan. Why? Because of some of the following reasons:
Donna still performs and still has an incredible and amazing good voice, even after all these years (which is not the same unfortunately with some other artists)
Donna stayed and stays a lovely, charming woman through her career without any fuss or arrogance. To me that are the signs of REAL ARTISTRY. In that way I also can be totally myself, even though I'm always a bit insecure.
She is a woman who always takes the time for her fans even though she doesn't have the time and her own husband tells her a few times that they have an interviewer ready waiting for ten minutes :D (Sorry Bruce).
Her music and personality made me happy from when I was 12. Now I'm 43 and it's still the same!
Thank you for that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|

Have a wonderful Christmas Time.
And thanks for your present to us on your own birthday (the broadcast of the Night of the Proms on Dutch television)
See ya!

Hallo Donna
Alles Gute, Robert |

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to the entire
Sudano family:
I am an 18 year old gay film student, going to school at N.Y.U. I hope
this season brings you in good health and prosperity. I am a hardcore
"American Idol" geek, in fact that is how I
"discovered" you.
I saw this regal black woman on the TV, I first thought you were Diana
Ross, but my mother exclaimed "Donna Summer"! She turned up
the volume and started dancing. You were singing some song about a cake
and that was not really my thing. You see I am an indie - rock and hip
hop guy. Disco/dance music is just not my thing. But that vocal range,
phrasing and timbre had me hooked and intrigued. Then my mother took out
an old 45 of " Hot Stuff" and I was blown away. Who knew you
could rock like that? I was expecting some disco dribble, but no, that
rocked. So I started to collect your entire back catalogue (iTunes and
flea markets).
The gold is really not found on the hits packages, but on the indivual
albums, you do have some rock gems buried deep in the tracks. My
favorites are "Romeo" ," My Baby
Understands","Love's Unkind", "All System Go ",
"State of Independence"(enough for your induction into the
Rock and Roll Hall of Roll of Fame .), "Highway Runner",
"Stop Me", and of course " Hot Stuff". When the
"BOSS" blessed you with a song, I just had to find it. "
Protection" is just pure magic! That song is super hot, I even
dance to it. It deserves a rock remix and some Springsteen vocals in
there. What a gangsta collabo! The fact that you were good enough for
Springsteen, means you are totally qualified to be inducted into the
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Congrats on that nomination. |
So I really hope your new album will have some rock, with tight lyrics and some bangin' beats. We all know your vocals will be on point. I am into British female songwriters like Lily Allen and Amy Winehouse. I love three American singers, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson and Donna Summer. You all got the same vibe. You are still very relevent to today's music scene, do more American Idol, it really shows off how respected you are and your personal fire!!! I hope Burgundy Records treats you like a queen. They seem to be doing things right this time and have a great deal of integrity. I have never seen you live, so please rock the house in N.Y.C. next year. I did see some photos from the Prom shows. You looked amazing, and you lost some weight and that is very good. Keep up the great work. Excess weight can be so distracting. Keep up the good work. Freshen and tweak your look, us fans love you so much, we want to the world to see what we see. Donna Summer + Fergie = FLAMES. You are such a pretty lady (Beyonce who?). Keep it poppin'.
Bruce's cd 2 years ago was very good and relaxing. Brooklyn is a fine actress. Amanda is FIRE! I am one of her visitors on MySpace. She seems to have a nice personality and her music rocks with soul! I hope you start to blog. Thank you for your wonderful music, even your disco. Your disco was so far beyond from the typical disco mind traps. Disco was a real part of rock history, we still hear it all the time and your influence can be seen a many of the new gals out there. "Once Upon A Time" was genius. So Operatic. " Bad Girls" and "The Wanderer" , you go from Gwen Stefani to Janis Joplin, it were so music forward. And then there is "I Feel Love" Giorgio Moroder gets much deserved props for that one, but your icy, restrained and very sexy vocals is the real prize. No one really knows your rock past, you first record was a redo of a classic rock masterpiece! How cool is that? Actually your pre "Love To Love You Baby" records (" Denver Dream", "Sally Go Round the Roses") etc , were cool too, so raw and unpretentious. Brilliant work.
Disco music was just your middle career for you. You just happen to be the best at it. A way to a means, we all have to get our grind on, I get it and you are forgiven. You are a rocker chick for sure.
Stay healthy and may God continue to bless you. And finally to a woman who is like fine wine, as you age, you just keep getting better. Happy Birthday Donna Summer!!!
Peace, out.

Dear Donna,
In Rotterdam I felt like a kid again. When you came on stage it's like a sparkle: once again I felt the feeling I felt 30 years ago.. When I first heard "Last Dance" or "I Feel Love". You still have that Magic!
For me you're still the same Donna I saw on Dutch TV on the "Sjef Van Oekel Show" or "TopPop"!
Thank you for all those Magical Feelings!
Next year will bring even more Magic... I can't wait for the new CD!
I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Successful New Year! Let the Magic continue!
Lots of love from your loyal Dutch fan Koen. |

Donna,
You are so beautiful, so magical! Can't wait for the new album next year. Eagerly hoping you make it to R&R Hall of Fame, you deserve it and all the attention that will accompany it. Maybe a perfect storm for we your loyal fans-- Album, Honors, PR, Tour?!-- in 2008.
Hope also you tour US next year to promote the album, please come to Pittsburgh. I have not had a chance to get to an out of state concert and we have not seen you since Aug. '95! What a concert it was that magical, mystical night!
Have a great pix of you from the concert in 95, you were in a lovely white and sequined gown doing Last Dance, paused/looking into the spot light. Had it blown up and it is in my room, inspires me along with another blown up pix of the Christmas Spirit Cover-- so much hope and joy in your face.
There is a video on YouTube of you singing Dream the Impossible Dream many years ago. It is incredible. What a great song that would be to end the album and tribute to the late Robert Goulet, too. Maybe this album will be so successful you can do an album of standards and
inspirational songs using your tremendous talent. When you sang Someone To Watch Over Me in the '95 concert it was mesmerizing.
Merry Christmas and Happy Healthy New Year! Thank you for constantly reminding me there is Hope!
Love, Your biggest Pittsburgh Fan!

PS: Please don't ever stop singing!

Dear Donna,
I would skip the presents and Christmas entirely, if it would make spring come any earlier and that HOT NEW SUMMER CD in my hands. I can't wait until spring! Needless to say I am very excited to have new songs with that incredible voice. It has been way overdue! All signs point to some cutting edge songwriters, producers and engineers. I expect a sound that will indeed mean Summer has returned.
I will never forget Nashville last year and the opportunity to at least brush your fingertips. That night you spoke a lot about dreams and wishes. I WISH FOR A REAL MEETING ONE DAY. It is way overdue as well. My best to you and yours this Holiday Season. I know you truly understand the Reason for the Season.
Good luck with the Hall of Fame. It is still early for the results but you are truly deserving no matter what.
God Bless,
Tony Nichols

Dear Donna,
All of your fans, including myself, are truly inspired by you for dodging all of life's
little obstacles, that make survival such a constant distraction, and reaching out to us
again with your beautiful, warm, powerful, and oh, so, resonant voice.
When I first listened to you, when I would see you perform, when I was a thirteen-year-old
in 1978, I thought to myself, "this,is what I love." I loved to see you, completely
transcend any fear and shyness with your beauty and your vocal performances. I have always
felt, and later understood, that you are shy. It is a quality in you that makes you very
special to me.
|
 |
I grew up and an only child with an abusive father who treated my mother very badly, and it
was really quite devastating. It was during the really bad times when I discovered you, and
it was such an emotional release to hear you sing and to see you perform, because you are
so empowered when you sing. The change in you is palpable. I just loved to see you self-
fulfilled and successful, as you are, when you sing; I always loved to see my sweet Donna
kick ass!
Twenty-nine years later, at 41, I still adore you. You say that you are just an 'ordinary
girl,' but your talent and your willingness to put yourself out there, and work so hard
make, you extraordinary, and you inspire me.
I wish you much happiness, and much luck with your future projects.
Wishing you, Bruce and your loved ones, a Merry Christmas,
and a Happy New Year.
Much Love and Respect,
Kenneth C. Fletcher, Jr. (Ken)

Merry Christams Donna.
I was inspired to write you after watching your story on Intimate Portrait the other day; and found myself crying so hard when you spoke of mother Mary
passing.I genuienly miss her too, after talking with her so many years ago and giving me a
warm hug. I loved her too! For 10 min. I balled, and realized how much you are a part of
my life; I share your pain;and your joy. Still talkin about that show in Pomona last
year (what kind of energy was that?? it felt like '78 again,i never heard you so loud, oh my
god! my ears were ringing all night!) And the crowd was rowdy and with you all the way!
Still resinates in my heart! My VERY best wishes to you and Bruce, and all of your family!
take care of yourself, please. wouldn't wanna live in a world without ya!
Hugs!

Once Upon A Time...there was a fan...that would be me in 1975. When I first heard Love to Love You, you instantly became my link to popular music. At the time the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame was the last thing on my mind. 32 years later you would become the deserved nominee you are! I am so proud of you. YOU GO GIRRRRRRL!!!
I am so upset you were not inducted this year. My sobbing comes and goes without notice, but I'm getting better each day closer to the release of your new CD. I was hoping the R&R HOF news would be the perfect Christmas gift for all of us fans and for you and your family. You TRULY deserve it, and you are in my personal Hall of Fame solidly at the very top! I am so excited about the new CD coming out next year. I hope to see you LIVE IN CONCERT again...it will be my 19th time. I also wish you a very happy birthday. God Bless you and your family Donna. I hope you give us some Giorgio-esque rock and rythym ala 'The Wanderer' Album next year. Speaking of 'The Wanderer', would you consider performing that song in your lineup for next year's tour? ROCK ON DONNA! You are the best there is. Merry Christmas.

Happy holidays, Donna!
I pray that this Christmas season finds you in good health (because we want you around until the world ends) and happiness (because an unahappy Summer makes for a cold winter). I hope all of your loved ones are doing well and life is as you would like it. Is Ordinary Miracle going to be on the new cd? I've been waiting to hear that song in its best quality for years now (smile). That would be an extraordinary miracle, huh? (smile, again). All the best.
God bless,
Jimmie |

Dear Donna:
As we close out 2007, we can all look back and count our blessings. I guess the older you get you realize how fragile life is. We loose our parents and as painful as that is, we can come to an acceptance, and be thankful for them in our lives and for the people they were. As we know we also loose those who have not had the chance to live a full life, and as you once put it in a concert before you sang, New York Minute, we all have to live our lives to the fullest, as don't know what the next minute may bring. We do have a lot to look forward to, I can't wait to hear some songs from your new album, and see you on stage. Together with all your Friends Unkown we can make 2008,
a true year to remember.
That said I Thank You from the bottom of my heart for all your music, yesterday, today, and tomorrow, it truly is a soundtrack for my life and will continue to be always.
A Very Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year to you, Bruce, Mimi, Brooklyn, Amanda, and all you famalies.

Dear Donna;
What a nice & wonderful autumn it was this year ! I've got the opportunity to come to see You 5 X at NOTP.
That event brought me also several new Holland friends (cfr. the four boys you met backstage). They will come to visit me in Brussels next february , when we (the Belgian fans) organise our traditional New Year's Donna Party.
Yes, we all know for a long time, that You feel like coming home when you're coming to Holland / Belgium! But from the interview that you gave to radio 2 , I've learned that Bruce is too much American to come to live in Europe again ????
LEAVE HIM TO US ....NEXT TIME !!!!!
We will talk and convince him , that he's not very well informed & right !!!!!(lol).
I feel so good , when I hear on the radio , and read in the news-papers , that your performence in Rotterdam is considered as the best one from this year .... and ....that "Donna Summer is more than ready for a Major Come-back "!!!!!
-I asked myself how You should have felt , especially the second thursday (november 22)???? Such an overwhelming welcome the audience gave You.... We (the long-time die-hard fans) got all tears in our eyes from happiness ...for You !!! |
| May I tell you , that in a sense , you are a part from my family , my life ,....since the very beginning from your career in 1974 ? Since your first appearance in Jef Van Oekel 's t.v. show, and later in Toppop , you are in my mind , EVERY DAY and EVERYWHERE !!! Not only your voice or songs , but evenmore your attitude and down to earth personality give me the power & strength survive in sometimes hard times. (You should know : I don't have family /relatives and ....... I'm very sorry but I can't believe in a God ((whish I could)) .
I wish You and your beloved ones , a warm & Merry Christmas and a splendid 2008 !!!
May all your wishes come true!!!!
Unconditional Love from Brussels ;
Luc.

Donna, you rock the world!!!
You was the star, not only measured by the applause, of the last Night of the Proms in Rotterdam, the evening I had the possibility to hear you live. Especially with "You Are So Beautiful (To Me)" you was the one who moved the audience. We've felt that you say deep from your heart thank you to us. Now it's even harder to wait for your new album. Because when I think about all the pieces of information we've got about your new album this year, then "You Are So Beautiful (To Me)" summed it up in a way:
You told that you wanted to say thank you to us fans all over the world with your new album. That was why the new album had musically a global influenced concept. After empathizing with the youth philosophy of love and peace back in the 60ies in the musical "Haare" (Hair), after anticipating the house and techno life style with "Love To Love You Baby" and "I Feel Love", after reinventing the concept of a Las Vegas showstopper with the timeless tune of "Last Dance", after expressing the different feelings of the disco generation in "Bad Girls", after freeing yourself with "The Wanderer" and writing an anthem for the women with "She Works Hard For The Money", it's absolutely fantastic that you now empathize with our feelings. Or with your words: "I felt I needed to touch the world the way the world touches me. I want the people in other countries to feel I took a part of them with me when I left." It's such a great idea.
You told furthermore that your own perception of music changed through your children and the music they heard. And we've heard that younger musicians, you've worked together with, gave you e.g. the possibility to improvise with new electronic technologies so that you can express your new perception. It's so good that you're back in a creative process as a singer and of course as a writer, that the journey continues.
Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

Merry Christmas & Blessed New Year Bruce & Donna!
How this year has flown by! However we are so looking forward to all that the Lord God has in store for all of us. Know that we pray for you and yours in regards to all of that. Amen! And what a year it sure looks to be for you to come! Congratulations on your workings with Burgundy and your nomination with the R&RHoF. Also for your newest work Bruce. It is great what we have had from you. But then, you have a tremendous fan/friend in my wife, who loves everything about you. Though I am not jealous; I just turn Donna's CD's on, louder. :o)
As it should be, your testimony, marriage and gifts are such a blessing to behold. Again, thank you for all you've given. It continues to change our (many) lives into being all that we can be in Christ. With that in mind, we simply want to bless you in return out of praise for the Lord bringing you two into our lives. For it continues to hold us in His embrace. Especially this year as we have come to understand and live out more of just what is loyal tenacity, grace, sincerity, love, faith and honor. We see this in you, especially in reports that we saw of services you attended (located at The 700 Clubs site). How refreshing of a testimony and witness that is to us and others.
So as two of your friends "unknown, for we know how friendship is such a glorious and precious gift anymore; may you be surrounded by trustworthiness, helpfulness, kindness, understanding, forgiveness, encouragement, humor, cheerfulness and love with(in) all your coming endeavors. We share His joy with you through the gift of friendship's words.
May you and yours be greatly blessed with the peaceful rest of God this Christmas, on your birthday Donna and in the New Year as never before! We look forward to seeing you soon and hearing from you as well. Remember; we are always lifting you up before the throne of God.
Yours, because His –

Dear Donna Summer Sudano,
My gift to you this year is your namesake! I am losing my eyesight to retinal failure, and will soon be blind. I am extra grateful for getting a Guide Dog [about to graduate] who I have named JLS DONNA SUMMER BAR NONE. Her callname is Ebony, and she wears a coat of both brown and white colors, reminding me of the unity in your music. She even has one blue eye and one brown eye, reminiscent of my favorite album, Mistaken Identity and my favorite song, Cry of a Waking Heart. I'm also grateful for the forthcoming opportunity to see you in concert for the very first time while I still have slight vision with which to see you. I've been a fan since the seventies. Thank you for blessing us with the gifts of your dynamic personality and personae as you have led the vanguard blazing new paths into all realms of music genres, theatre and art. As this holiday season and your 60th birthday approaches, please know that you are treasured and loved for your humanity as well as your iconoclastic superstar status, and that the peerless tone and tapestry
of your voice is greatly appreciated |
| still! May you receive warmest blessings in return for all that you have done for and given to your fans by your art and music.
As we spring forward into 2008, I eagerly await your new music and the renewal of Summer fever that will bring. May joy, peace and prosperity be added unto you and yours and in all that you do; and I look forward to hearing you sing! God bless you darling.
Love, ~Stormy |

Dearest Donna and Family,
Every year I find myself expressing holiday greetings to you, Bruce and the rest of your family and I realize you actually get more consistency from me than even my family. I always write your greetings first! Perhaps in a way you and your music are like family to me, providing me with comfort and joy at times when I really need them. Your music has always been associated with good times in my life, whether it was high school days at the beach listening to Bad Girls in 1979 or ringing in 2003 when the bar switched over to your performance of Last Dance on Dick Clark. I had the opportunity to meet you backstage in Reno November 2004 when you brought back Love to Love You, Baby after a long absence from your concerts, and you were so sweet. I cherish the photo that was taken. I am so excited to see you back at the height of your creative energy with the new release in 2008 and I think it is going to be an amazing year for you. There are many more good times to be derived from NEW Donna Summer music. I wish all the best for you, Bruce, Mimi, Amanda Grace and Brooklyn (my hometown), as well as Mary and all the rest for the holidays and new year. And from one Capricorn to another, Happy Birthday on December 31!
